It's frustrating when you're writing an important email and the recipient suddenly can't be reached. You wonder: did my connection to their app go down? Is there a server outage? The truth is, your app just lost its connection to the Appfolio portal because of a pesky error. So how can you fix this issue so that your emails are sent smoothly from now on?

Dealing with this problem really couldn't be easier. All you need to do is uninstall and reinstall the Appfolio app (which will automatically reconfigure any previous settings).

The Appfolio portal uninstaller isn't the easiest thing to find. Luckily, our developers have a complete walkthrough on how to do this at the following link:

To uninstall the Appfolio portal app:

  1. Open up the Settings menu on your iPhone or iPad by tapping on the gear icon in your top right corner. (Don't know what I'm talking about? See our article on how to access iPhone settings. )

  2. Select the App Store option from your Settings menu.

  3. Scroll down until you find Appfolio under iCloud Apps and tap on it to select it.

  4. Then tap on Uninstall at the bottom of your screen, and confirm that you want to uninstall it by tapping on the Uninstall button again. You have successfully uninstalled Appfolio! (Note: If you are not able to find Appfolio in your settings, it may be because you're using an older model of iPhone or iPad. Apple has recently made Apple IDs for iOS apps compatible with iPods and iPhones released after September 17, 2011. If you want to update your settings, to make sure you can find Appfolio, swipe to the right in the top-left corner of your iPhone or iPad and then select the Notifications option.)

If you wish to reinstall the Appfolio app:

You will need to close any app that is currently open on your iPhone or iPad before moving forward. If you are not using the Appfolio portal, simply restart it for now by double-clicking on its icon in the Dock instead of leaving it running in the background.

Open up Settings. Scroll down until you find Appfolio under iCloud Apps and tap on it to select it. Then tap on Install at the bottom of your screen, and confirm that you want to install it by tapping on the Install button again. It should take about a minute or two for Appfolio to download onto your iPhone or iPad.

Once the download is done, tap on Done at the top left corner of your screen, then slide up from the bottom of your screen until you see a list of all apps currently running on your device. Scroll down until you see Appfolio listed under " Running ", and double-click on its icon. This will open up the Appfolio app on your device and you're ready to go! Once the Mobile Sync Utility window opens, you'll need to select the Sync tab. On the right-hand side, you should see a list of applications. Select Appfolio from that list. Simply press Delete to uninstall Appfolio from your Apple computer and then proceed to reinstall it as described above!

If you encounter this error while using a Mac computer, simply close out of any other running apps and restart your computer. Then follow the steps above, using your Mac rather than your iPhone or iPad!

Once you have uninstalled and reinstalled Appfolio, log into your account on each device or browser with which you have been using Appfolio. Then you'll be able to access any emails that you have sent!

To remove the error message from your Apple devices, simply delete the message from either of those devices. This should make sure that Appfolio's connection status is not affected. If you are still experiencing issues connecting to Appfolio, please email us at support@ Appfolio .com.
